Strummerville is a registered charity that gives opportunities to aspiring musicians and support to projects that help change the world through music. Set up by friends and family of Joe Strummer in 2003, the year after his death, the charity seeks to reflect Strummer's unique contribution to the music world by offering support, resources and performance opportunities to artists who would not usually have access to them. The charity’s work comes in many forms – from helping bands to record and release music, providing rehearsal spaces – with Strummerville studios currently set up at the Roundhouse in London, at our home base under The Westway in London, at the ‘Oh Yeah’ Studios in Belfast and the ‘FairTunes’ studio in Bogata.
In addition Strummerville has a special projects fund – support has included helping Billy Bragg rehabilitate jail inmates via Jail Guitar Doors (www.jailguitardoors.org.uk ), raising awareness in schools around the UK to stop knife crime (www.samm-merseyside.org.uk ), working with Rinse FM to set up the Rinse Academy for young people in East London (http://rinse.fm/category/academy/ supporting ‘Camden Calling’ to help homeless and vulnerable people in Camden through Music (www.camdencalling.org/), helping many music communities in Malawi and so much more. More info on the support Strummerville offer can be found here: http://www.strummerville.com/our-work-and-what-we-do/ Strummerville is a non-political, non-religious, no-discrimination music charity open to all who seek it. All the funds from sale of merch goes directly back into the charity to continue the work. Thanks for your support One Love Strummerville
